Playing by the rules when spending golf holidays in Siusi in the Sciliar region
The course rules at our golf course in South Tyrol
All rules are mandated according to R&A and USGA Rules of Golf.
Play the course as you find it and the ball as it lies.
Play according to the rules and according to the “Spirit of the game.”
BALLS LOST OR OUT OF BOUNDS. (RULE 18)
If a ball comes to rest on or beyond the road (Hole 1/2), it is “out of bounds” even if it comes to rest on another part of the course which is not out of bounds for the other holes. All external boundaries are marked with white stakes or lines. In addition, fences which mark the outer boundary are coloured white and the inside of the fence is the boundary.
PENALTY AREAS. (RULE 17)
All penalty areas on the course are marked with yellow or red posts. These are movable obstructions.
PROVISIONAL BALL FOR A BALL IN A PENALTY AREA. (RULE 18)
Under Rule 18.3, a player cannot play a provisional ball if it is known or it is certain that a ball is in the penalty area.
Exception to the rule. If a player does not know whether his ball is in the penalty area (Hole 1), he may play a provisional ball in accordance with Rule 18.3. If the ball is found in the penalty area within the 3 minute search time, the player may choose to continue to play with the original ball as it lies in the penalty area or to continue the game with the provisional ball.
DROP ZONES. (RULE 14)
If a ball lies in the penalty area (Hole 3/Hole 4/Hole 6) or it is known or is as good as certain that a ball was not found and came to rest in the penalty area, the player may drop another ball in the drop zone under penalty of one stroke (Hole 3, possibly behind the trench, Hole 4 in front of the bridge tee). The drop zone is the relief area under Rule 14.3.
Drop Zone Hole 6: All balls that come to rest from the tee in the penalty area on the left hand side, “Must” be played from the drop zone at the front. Any breach of this is considered as playing the ball from a wrong place (14.7a)
IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTION (RULE 16)
All roads and paths, advertising signs, huts and fences on the course are treated as immovable objects, even if they don’t have any artificial surfaces, from which free relief is permissible under Rule 16.1.
Artificial drainage ditches which run parallel to the road (e.g. Hole 8) are treated as immovable obstructions and are considered part of the road.
STOPPING PLAY (RULE 5)
Notification to stop play in a dangerous situation is given by one honk of a horn. Resumption of play is notified by sounding two honks on the horn. Rule 5.7b.
UNREASONABLE DELAY. (RULE 5)
A player or group of players mustn’t unreasonably delay play whilst playing a hole or whilst playing between two holes. A warning or allocation of penalty strokes may result.
HANDING IN THE SCORECARD. (RULE 3.3B)
Scorecards are to be handed in to the secretary of the scoring area immediately after the round has ended. Results that are not legible are not accepted in match play (for that respective hole) and could lead to disqualification in stroke play. Each player is responsible for their own scorecard.
